How text savvy are you?

Sending texts via SMS (Short message Service) has delevoped a language of it’s own.

Can you translate these messages into proper English?

Chatdanger.com has lot’s of good advice about how to use your mobile safely and everyone should read the section on cyberbullying on the ThinkUknow website.

Please be aware of the many scam’s that are being carried out on people’s mobiles and phones. Protect yourself by keeping up to date with the latest scams and fraud’s. Do the quizzes on Phonebrain to check you are as aware as you can be.

Did you know you can cut down the number of unwanted telesales calls you get by registering your phone number with the TPS (telephone preference service). You can also register your address and not get as much junk mail  great for the environment!!

Today I thought we could make our own personal chrismas card. Make a separate page on your blog called Christmas and design a page that wishes a Merry Christmas to your readers. You can use any software you like. I thought I would try and make an animated one using Pivot.

Please make sure you have a link to everyone else’s blog in your blogroll, including mine! You can get some ideas for your own project by looking at the work of other’s, especially if they are on a similar theme.

I would also like you to add a new page of tips and put on it any ctrl key shortcuts you have learnt how to use or any other tips you would like to share. Feel free to copy any tips from my page.

In the first part of the lesson we are going to use Excel to make a Christmas shopping list. Your column headings should be:

Name       Present       Where to buy        Price

In todays lesson we will use the internet to find out facts about children in need.

I would like you to to use a spreadsheet to record the totals raised since it began in 1980

Your column headings should be

Year, Amount raised, Presenters, Official single. Use the Autosum function to calculate the grand total.

Then add a post to your blog about any interesting children in need sponsorships you have come across. Perhaps you are doing one youself and you could use your blog to advertise it and get more sponsors!
